A 'bare-knuckle' dance party...

Yuzo Koshiro always was the master of bringing a little house sound to the Genesis musical world, and this track shows it off pretty well. A very solid version of a classic track. It's nice to see someone remixing a different track other than the first stage. I like it a lot, but I will have to say it isn't a far cry different than the original, other than not being 16-bit-sounding. It's still very good, though, and I won't hold that against you.

I also have a few questions: what programs did you use to make it? I always ask that question in my reviews, but I'm always curious. I'm going to take a wild guess - FL Studio? Also, how long did it take to make it? I'd really appreciate it you could answer at least one of these questions.

Overall, it was a very solid remix of a classic, very catchy song. It was a little unoriginal in instrument selection, but I can't fault you, since how can I complain about such a great song? Keep up the good work, but just be a little more 'out-of-the-box.' Also, it's great to see someone else who adores the first Streets of Rage. Genesis for life!

I'll give you a 9/10, but I will give you a 5/5 since it's such a classic song.

Jaw-dropping.

At first, I thought it was going to be some cheesy jazzy-sounding muzak. That is, until the crazy guitar playing began. I was blown away at 0:16 to 0:23. Incredible sweeps and arpeggios, man. You've definitely made a fan out of me, man. A few quick questions, if you don't mind: What kind of guitar and amp were you using? Also, how long have you been playing? I've been playing for four years and I play everyday, but I'm not even in the same caliber. 10/10, 5/5. - EC

Zullzee responds:

Thanks! I use a Jeff Loomis Schecter guitar, and this solo wasn't recorded through an amp, I used a Line 6 Toneport, to record directly to my computer. I do have an amp though, halfstack 5150 Peavey. I've been playing since forever, I got my first guitar when I was 7 but didn't practice seriously till I was in my teen years. To get yourself fast and clean, practice your licks slowely, and most importantly, cleanly. If you practice sloppy, you'll play sloppy, just remember that. =)

Hmm...Finally decided to show up, eh?

Unlike the other reviewers, I like 8-bit music, and I'm a die-hard Sonic fan. Really killer version, man. What did you use to make this? Keep up the good work. The only thing I can think to tweak would be the bass - it's completely loud and flashy in the real song, so I think you need to turn it up a little more. Other than that, real good job, Charem. 10/10, 5/5. - EC

Yes... Yes...

Awesome version, man. At first when I heard the vocoder in the verses, I wasn't very impressed at all. But when it kicked into the chorus, it sounds absolutely killer. Great version (and lyrics!) of an already beautiful song in an incredible, masterpiece of a game. Quick question: what programs did you use to make it? Love it, man. 10/10, 5/5.

Oh, and killer synth solo!

Thanks Dude!!! Yeah, all done in Reason 3.0 ... totally working on a new version as we speak for OCReMix... it'll sound better... I'm re-recording all the vox and everything! Thanks again dude... glad you like it!!! :D

It's a good effort...

...But it's not great. A few notes of the melody are different than the original, and I find that the sax doesn't really suit Johnny Gioeli's melodic rasp. The guitars are a little too synthetic sounding, and, in fact, they remind me of GuitarPro software. The intro to the song is also missing the repeated use of crash cymbals as well. Bits and pieces of the solo sounded a bit different as well, but it was still a good effort, since that lead can be incredibly difficult. It was a nice version, but it just wasn't stellar like everyone else seems to think. And, by the way, the "rock" version of "Live and Learn?" Please. It's already a rock song, so that makes it extra redundant. Anyways, 6/10, 2/5.

Hmph.

The chord progression is rather simple, and it's made of rather random samples in really no time signature. It's not terrible, and like Randomguy78 said, you had a wide variety of sounds - it just needs more direction. Keep writing, and keep practicing with FL Studio - it's the only way any person gets better. I'll give it a 5/10, and a 2/5. - EC

Ah...my ears...

Jeez, this song kills my ears. Not only does it cause actual pain, it has no tone or melody whatsoever. There's even a bunch of clicking noises underneath. Really, really, really bad, man. I have no idea if this is serious or just a joke - I really can't tell. 0/10, 0/5. Really, dude, it fucking sucks. - EC

Very emotional

With the water drips, ocean tide, and very soft piano, the whole song becomes very beautiful and moving. The piano is simple, but really pretty. It definitely has an Uematsu quality: simple enough, without sacrificing beauty or melody. I just really, really like this song. Keep up the good work, Kirito.

Kirito responds:

Thanks for the feedback ^^ I'll try continue producing more works for you all to enjoy!

Nazonazo ...

This is like the perfect 8-bit (err...C64) remix of Hare Hare Yukai. As my all-time favorite closing anime song (and just one of my all-time favorite songs), this version is pretty stellar. Since I'm a huge fan of 8- and 16-bit music, it doesn't get much better than this, for me, at least. My only complaint is the drums can get a little "squishy" sounding, and I end up focusing on that more than the rest of the song. But other than that, it was expertly crafted. Very good job, Pixl. You're a very talented man, and thank you for creating such a masterful remix of an incredible song. 10/10, 5/5. And, "You love big dreams, right?" - EC

This is... Nice...

I've always adored Dark Cloud 2; it's such an unappreciated gem of a game. It's so great that someone knows the awesome music of Dark Cloud 2. Very nice, although it doesn't sound worlds different from the original. I guess there's more accordion and a light mandolin sound underneath. Still, great, great song. 10/10, 5/5. - EC
